Frequently asked questions
Have questions? We have the answers
For starting Indoor Cycling and in particular CycleMasters, you need an Indoor Cycling bike. Additionally, you require a suitable device to play the workouts (such as a phone, tablet, laptop). Finally, a working internet connection is necessary to stream the workouts to your device.
You can follow our workouts with any type of spinning bike. There are no special requirements for the bike. There is a wide range (and difference in quality) among the various bikes available. Depending on your needs and budget, you can choose a bike that suits you. Factors to consider when purchasing a bike include the resistance system (usually magnetic or felt pad), the drive (chain or belt), and the weight of the flywheel.
In our webshop we currently offer various bikes from partners like Betersport and NRG Fitness. Here you will also find our bike selector tool, which you can fill out to discover which bike suits you best.
We want everyone to be able to start with Indoor Cycling. We have chosen not to sync with a specific bike, so you can follow our workouts on any Indoor Cycling bike.
No, you do not need a smart bike. Our workouts can be followed with any type of Indoor Cycling bike. A smart bike is useful if you like to track data during your workouts, such as RPM, wattage, etc.
To view our workouts on a larger screen, such as a TV, we recommend using Chromecast. Chromecast is available through both the iOS app and the Android app, as well as in the Google Chrome browser/app.
In some cases, the workouts can also be played directly on a smart TV. However, we have not developed an app for this, and we do not officially support playback via a browser on a smart TV.
For most Indoor Cycling bikes, you have pedals equipped with straps, where you can slide in your regular sports shoes. So, you don’t need specific shoes to get started.
If, after a few workouts, you want to consider training with cycling shoes, you first need to check if your bike has SPD pedals. Then, you can look for shoes with SPD cleats.
No, there is a difference. An Indoor Cycling bike is used for intensive training and is characterized by the use of a flywheel. This flywheel, in combination with the drive and resistance system, creates resistance on your bike. You will find that the continuous pedaling system on an Indoor Cycling bike requires you to keep pedaling. If you want to stop, you use the emergency stop.
An exercise bike works a bit differently. An exercise bike is undoubtedly one of the most well-known cardio machines used for fitness. An exercise bike uses what is called a freewheel. This allows you to stop pedaling at any time while the flywheel continues to spin. As a result, you usually complete the workout at a lower intensity.
